Healthcare professionals’ and parents’ experiences of the confirmatory testing period: a qualitative study of the UK expanded newborn screening pilot

The expansion of screening to include additional complex and rare conditions presents challenges in terms of providing accessible information to parents, and communicating results effectively through sensitive and supportive interactions with Healthcare professionals (HCPs). This study explores parental and HCP experiences of the UK ENBS pilot with a focus on the period of confirmatory testing following a positive screening result. The views of the parents and HCPs tended to be in alignment raising similar issues of concern.
